Your stomach is a muscular organ in your upper abdomen. In the stomach, food mixes with digestive juices. There are four main regions in the stomach:

It is comprised of 4 main regions, the cardia, fundus, body, and pylorus. It’s between the end of the food pipe (esophagus) and the start of the first part of the small bowel (duodenum). Found in the upper left quarter of the abdominal region, the stomach is positioned immediately under the diaphragm.

The Stomach Receives Food From The Esophagus.

It is part of your gi tract. Food from the esophagus enters the stomach through the cardiac sphincter which is just inferior to the diaphragm. The stomach lies in the superior abdomen just inferior to the diaphragm.

During Digestion, Your Stomach Contracts, Relaxes And Produces Acids That Help Break Down Food.

When the stomach is empty, it resembles the letter j, and it connects with the esophagus and empties. The most distal and narrow section of the stomach is termed the pylorus—as food is liquefied in the stomach it. It is a large, muscular, and hollow organ allowing for a capacity to hold food.

The Stomach Is Much Like A Bag With A Lining.

Its characteristic shape is well known. When the muscularis externa layers are dissected, one can visualize three distinct layers coined the longitudinal, circular, and oblique layers. The stomach has four main anatomical divisions;
